RE:soldner wheel?

Soldner wheels are awesome. They are like the Rolls Royce of pottery wheels. They feel very hand crafted and stylish. From the cool foot petal to the wooden deck. Like a Rolls Royce, you have to think about price (what you get for the price and if it is worth it...can be up to $2000).

Some people complain about the foot petal (see link below).

I currently use an Axner Super Pro Pottery Wheel.

It is a great wheel. Solid construction. Very powerful. Easy to center a lot of clay. Quiet. Smooth Pedal. Easy splash pan. Great price (about half what you would spend on a Soldner).

They also offer so many accessories for the wheel at Axner (I have not tried any...but they seem interesting).

RE:soldner wheel?

Go with the Brent.

Bents are good wheels. It seems like every ceramic supply store carries them. This makes it easy to repair and buy parts for them.

Make sure to get the Brent Model C or better. The Model B has a very weak motor. With the Model B, students can sometimes stop the wheel completely while centering a large amount of clay.
